* Disneyland! * What are all the perks associated with "concierge service" at the Grand Californian, please?

Grand Californian at Disneyland, Anaheim. March time-frame. We booked concierge service at substantially more cost and can't find any good details as to exactly what is included with this service. We know there's a continental breakfast. What exactly can we/should we take advantage of, when we take our 2 year old? - haven't been to Disneyland in 10 years. Thank you for any feedback! Your time is much appreciated :-)

The last time I went to Disneyland (2 years ago), I had a two-year-old and a five-year-old. We chose concierge service at the Disneyland hotel for a number of reasons, some of which may or may not be applicable to the Grand Californian.

For starters, there's breakfast in the morning and a wine and cheese reception every evening. There's also a concierge (of course!) available to assist you with dinner and entertainment reservations (think Downtown Disney as well as the two theme parks). The biggest benefit was the priority check-in. I don't know how it was last time you were there, but it was absolutely wonderful to be able to skip the long general check-in line and go straight to the priority check-in, where we were in and out in about five minutes (vs. our friends who didn't do the concierge level, and it took them nearly 90 minutes to check in).

At the Disneyland hotel, they pipe the fireworks music into the concierge lounge and you have a great view of the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. It was wonderful to bring the kids back at a decent hour, put them in their pajamas, and stroll down to the concierge lounge to enjoy the fireworks just steps away from our room vs. on Main Street.

And finally, the concierge lounge offers DVD players and Disney movies.

It doesn't sound like much for the extra money, but the Cast Members really make it worth your while. They're really attuned to your family's wants and needs and are very responsive. I'll definitely book it again next time I go.

The two links below contain more information. The first link is a description of the rooms, and at the bottom of that page you'll find the extra amenities offered to the concierge level guests. The second link contains a price comparison between "regular guest rooms" and "concierge rooms".

Hope that helps you have a magical time!

Most people upgrade to concierge simply because of being able to say that they stayed in a concierge room. In my experience at the Grand Californian a concierge will greet you when you arrive and help you with any questions once you get there. The concierge takes you to the 6th floor where your room is located and they get you checked in. They will also give you a little tour of the concierge benefits. Also, in the room they give you a little gift, which varies. I also had a DVD player in the tv, and you could get DVDs from the concierge lounge. You will also get turndown service with chocolates, anytime they come in your room they will tidy it up a bit as well.

In the lounge they provided delicious cookies. I loved them, they were great. As you mentioned you get the continental breakfast. It's not to have to buy another meal during the day, plus the food is pretty good. The lounge is cozy and a nice place to relax.

They really do have nice food through out the day. They also provide drinks for you. Though you may not think so, this can really save you some money while in the parks or during your day. Though you spent more on the room, you did get something for the money.

I really think it is something you should try. The park view from concierge is so great. You can't get the same experience in Disney World, just because of the size. You aren't going to get anything extra that would be helpful because of your two year old, but there should be no charge for the child. It's good food, convienent and there is a few extra benefits. Plus the service is great and there is always a concierge available for anything you request. Your 2 year old would probably love having the DVDs available as well. Also, the room is slightly larger.

Hope this helps. Have a great trip!
