A give somebody the third degree for Scottish nation: what are your opinion on non-Scots wearing kilts surrounded by Scotland?
I'm an American who owns a kilt and I occasionally wear it, but not too normally because if you just wear it around for no purpose here in the US race think you're strange. However I am trying to attain a job to allow me to work surrounded by the UK (I lived in England from the ages of 9-14 and still occasionally seize desires to go put money on, I love that place!) When I lived there I never wore a sarong, so I'm wondering, what are your opinions on the issue of foreigners wearing them contained by Scotland? Also, my kilt is not some punk strip leather kilt or anything similar to that; it's a true Scottish-made kilt beside the MacKay tartan. Is there any sarong "etiquette" like the appropiate shirt or shoes to wear?
Answers: I am Scottish and I own no problem with it , surrounded by fact it's nice. My mum's subsequent door neighbour wears his adjectives the time. Don't wear it in England though.within is a lot of anti -Scottish sentiment roughly at the moment, they blame everyone but themselves for their problems. So if you are in Scotland and want to wear it , I say aloud ..go ahead . pious luck.
I have no problem as long as it is done out of respect for our country and heritage- and not as a gimmick. I'm a Scot living contained by California and I wear one of my several Kilts at any excuse- I love going to Scottish games wearing my kilt and a tank-top so that my Clan crest and St Andrew's Cross Tattoos show proudly.
I would be cautious in England, especially within bars, as it might go and get you into some trouble from ignorant race (Sassenachs ;-) )
I've worn kilts with tank-tops, T-shirts, Rugby Shirts, dress shirts, adjectives with both Ghillie Brogues and long socks/ a variety of colored Dr Martens
For formal events I wear full "bonnie Prince Charlie" with a Bow tie.
For a funeral lately I wore the same but near a full collared dress shirt and Long black tie.
not botherd really. i would just assume "there gose another tourist" awaanboi... England is thoroughly multicultural the most in the UK we enjoy know problem with empire wearing kilts hear.
i would love to see what would happen if English associates wore there English flag as a shirt surrounded by Scotland.
back to the interview people within Scotland should not mind foreigners or the English or Welsh wearing the kilts in Scotland it shows they are taking a interest contained by Scottish culture.

Im Scottish and I wouldn't enjoy a problem with a foreigner wearing it, but I agreee you should'nt wear it contained by England...
People here tend to wear it to formal events or Football matches, which begin a lot so its pretty average to see anyone in one. Well i'm partially Scottish and have also lived within England for half my existence, and I am fine with relations wearing kilts as long as they are in Scotland and they don't wear it contained by a war to be funny, but as a road to show their Scottish heritige
If it's a proper kilt consequently I have no problem beside you wearing a kilt. It's not in general worn for every day wear. Usually kilts are worn at special events resembling weddings, ceilidhs, Burns Suppers and the like. I am Scottish and own never worn a kilt. It's not formal everyday dress. Usually see for things such as weddings, graduations, ceremonies, celebrations, Scottish sporting support. Don't mind anyone wearing them, where they are from.
There is appropriate shoes, socks, shirt, jacket, etc to accompany the miniskirt. Again depends what is going on. Going to support the Scottish football team for instance - you wouldn't wear adjectives that - and all of explicitly expensive. You get hire shops for this compassionate of stuff to.
There's also modifications, so the shirt is more casual. A Ghillie Shirt. Type miniskirt or ghillie shirt into Google.
Don't wear it for the job interview.
