Any tips on travelling to Egypt?
I am planning a trip to see the great pryamids in Giza this topple.
Answers: Make sure you start your hepatitis A and B vaccinations as soon as possible. Hep A is the most far-reaching because it is a food borne illness that will ruin your trip and/or estate you in the hospital if you achieve it.
Don't drink water that's not any boiled or bottled. No slushies or snow cones either.
Don't put away fruits that you don't have to crust. Avoid fruits with giant water content similar to melons.
Always wash your hand before intake. Carry purell or another hand sanitizer for those times when you can't find soap and hose.
Use only legal taxis. Avoid political demonstrations.
These are adjectives really obvious things for experienced travellers, but they should be repeated anyway.
Watch for those creatures from the Hills Have Eyes and pack sunscreen. Giza is a district surrounded by Cairo that happens to include the pyramids. Cairo's drivers are adjectives about "inshallah" as are the pedestrians. Getting to the site is 1/2 of the "fun"! You never said if you be travelling singly or with a tour. It does be paid a difference re: transportation and timing. Legit taxis- black and white... PAY ONLY IN LOCAL CUURENCY! They allow a limited # of nation into the pyramids ea day due to the problems human pollution cause. Get there rash due to heat and #'s. There are souvenir and camel and horse ride vendor everywhere. Some are very aggressive. Be direct next to a no thank you. Bring your own water (bottled) and sunscreen. The Sphinx , though right nearby is a seperate tour. Have your passport ready, go and get read to pay more than an Egyptian citizen and follow the guides. No pics surrounded by the chambers! Some are a concrete serious hike and not for the claustrophobic. Giza is probably one of the better parts of Cairo and soak up the Corniche along the Nile. Don't get within the water. Don't drink nonbottled hose down, juice, etc.(unless you are surrounded by a 7 star) no matter what, no rime, be careful within the shower, etc. The place is well guarded as within military everywhere because it is afteral a military dictatorship. They don't want tourists in trouble... desperate for biz. The country is becoming less secular so don't draw attention to yourself by showing arm above the elbow and wearing shorts if you are a woman. Wear longer dresses. It's more cool and a better sunscreen. Learn how to read aloud please and thank you in arabic. All of Cairo is interesting and full.
Be sensible re: your $ and passport. Buy your customs stamps ( you don't need a visa, that's it...) - 15$ US currency at the bank window in the Airport, imbue out your paperwork and get within line; don't revise money there. Am Ex is individual open for factor of the day and a kickback is charged when you exchange $ to piasters. You may do better contained by the hotel but look it up on line. Also check next to the STATE DEPARTMENT website and register so you won't get caught contained by a surprise (it works). The Airport and customs are interesting; if you are a woman, they may ignore you and permit any # of men go up to that time you. I started screaming and they let me thru. Generally you'll be segregate by sex /gender unless you are with fam or a tour or within a hotel... they even have womens' singular cars on the subway. (No subway to the pyramids). Good luck.
The food is good but if you carry sick, find some pedialyte and try to get some Flagyl. Best other to check with a doctor tho one can purchase deeply of presecription medicines beside no presecription. If you think you may hold problems, get your meds at home. The ones in attendance work fine but if you don't know what you are doing, go to a doctor. English should not be a problem, esp. if you use the Hotel or embassy inventory. Good luck. Have fun and pace yourself. Egypt is a great place to see and wallow in with a some adjectives sense in play. I'd be in motion again in a minute and I've be many times solo, to stop by my Embassy employed fam, and again when they left that chore. Just be careful as you would anywhere else and if anyone hassle you, don't respond. Have some oriental pastries and hibiscus tea- cold, no ice. Take plenty of stuff approaching batteries, motion picture if that's your camera, sunscreen as noted, and dress appropriately for the culture. Also know that alcohol is only available to foreigners within hotels unless you can find the local beer (Stella or some chunky, gritty facsimile). Avoid it. Anyway, Enjoy. I have repeatedly and as stated, would jump back surrounded by a minute if I could now. Just talk about, the population and pollution and general existence experiences are sometimes similar but more than likely will not be... and recall/take Purell and embezzle kleenex with you because t.p. is a western convenince and not other available... at sites or elsewhere. Oh yeah... bring band-aids and blister stuff. They sell band-aids individually at hand and what neosporin? As for Hepatitis, I'd been vax'd years ago but the series is 3 shots over 6 mos. Better safe and sound than sorry. Again, check the US State Dept for health info.HAVE FUN!

It will specifically enlighten you what kinds of precautions to whip and get you up to speed on what you should know. The information should be close to the information on obtain passports and visas. Hire a local guide and never venture outside your hotel lobby lacking an escort. Provide detailed itineraries to close friends and do not deviate from these plans.
Additionally, arrange to have an international cellular cell phone. Call friends and hang up past they answer. This will register a date/location stamp on both phones at little or no charge.
If you need an emergency operation, clear to be airlifted to Paris.
