Answers: You are in luck! Luzern (or Lucerne) is a fundamentally pretty city. Weather is strange these days. It can be cool soon and warm the subsequent. Prepare for cool weather around 50 F (10 C) and windy and you will probably be ok. Rain is possible so prepare for that too by taking an umbrella or water-proof jacket.
How far from the airport depends on which airport you are flying into. I assume you are flying into Zurich airport. From in attendance it will be under 1.5 hours by train to the Luzern train station. Alternatively if you fly to Geneva it will be nearly 2 hours.
I think you can spend at most minuscule 1-2 days enjoying this pretty city. Then by adjectives means move about up one of the two famous mountains within the area Platus or Rigi. From nearby you will have an amazing judgment over the city of Luzern and the entire region. But be prepared it will be COLD and windy up in attendance.
Then try a nice day trip. Zurich, for example, is simply 1 hour away by train. It is the largest city in Switzerland. Or see somethig different and shift to Lugano in the Italian sector of Swizerland.

Have fun!!
Don't forget to visit the "Verkehrsmuseum". Went frequent years ago. Very beautiful and picturesque. The Vierwaldstaetersee seem more beautiful than water Geneva. It's all closed surrounded by with ze Alps! Take a cruise on the mere. Wander the town and the old wood bridge close by the mouth of the lake. Go up to Pilatus, amazing view. I'm sure it will be cold. I went contained by June and it was freezing. Although I hear Swiss weather is so unpredictable sometimes
I visit Lucerne a few years ago, and be sure to buy Swiss chocolates there-it's in a shop contained by town close to a bank-sorry, I don't know the store name. The wrapper have pictures of Switzerland on them, with the Swiss Red Flag near the cross inside-I don't know what the name of this chocolate is, but here is what they look approaching...

We only shopped and go on the famous bridge during our 4 hour stay, but I do remember the background is breathtaking, and I keep urging my husband to run me back near.
