Answers: gibraltar is not contained by spain. it is a british dependency.
Your better off living surrounded by Spain as its alot cheaper than Gibraltar..then meander across the border daily for work. Driving across the border can be a torment with long Qs surrounded by and out.
Housing in Gibraltar is vastly expensive and most are high rise flats due to the withdrawal of space.
Gibraltar and Spain do not get on so best not to bid them Spanish lol.
When you apply for jobs dont expect to find a reply.
Stick with the mainland.....GIB be fine a few years ago for ex-pats to go shopping for the stock they couldn't by on the costas, but now we can bring back everything we need here surrounded by various UK base shops, Iceland, etc., so it has in a minute out lived its usefulness to us ex-pats, but its OK for the odd look in.
Poeple don't even bother to use it so much as a place to stash money, you are no longer better off doing so.
Hope this help!
It is not easy to win work in Gib and building is quite expensive. You might do better to consider Spain instead. It is in principle easy to procure bar work or labour work with British businesses over here and cottage is relatively easy to find and not too expensive. I Just come back from Spain ultimate week and visited Gibraltar (UK) and spoke to some of the locals that I know in attendance. It is expensive to rent in GIB and also the utility bills are extraordinarily high, I be quoted lb200 a month for electricity and water but over the border where on earth my friend lived she paid on 63 euro's. She lived over the border and walk into work (GIB) every morning. To work in GIB you are required to speak English and Spanish (which seem a little daft to me) even though at hand are many Spanish nation working in the shops. I found the food surrounded by cafe's and restaurants very expensive and low competence. Its cheap if you want to smoke and drink all daytime long lb9.50 200 cigs and lb8.95 for a litre of smirnoff for example (you can only bring 200 cigs and 1 bottle spinal column over the border into spain before you adjectives get excited - and they are VERY strict on this) I thought of living nearby as an alternative to mainland UK put me right off presently. **travel tip** take Sterling UKlb if your going near for a day trip or use the Barclays Bank ATM as they impart you money in UKlb's Gib lb's you cant spend surrounded by the UK and the exchange rate for the euro in shops is sensational some want 1.90euro for a lb1!
I second Conoco and snafu. Gibraltar is not in Spain. It is a seperate country (part of Britain) and the Spanish are a bit touchy roughly it. I can't imagine living within, though I haven't been, myself. Seems as if within wouldn't be much room, and it certainly wouldn't be resembling living in Spain. I wouldn't want to live near as I found it boring and small - only deeply a main street near marks & spencers & McKays, and a few small shops, it is expensive and not much happen off season.
Please don't ask a Spaniard what Gibraltar within Spain is like, you will win a rude answer. Gibraltar is an overcrowded place stuck out on a limb effective La Linea in Southern Spain. It's much dearer than living surrounded by Spain even though their tax law are beneficial. Only been at hand once, and wasn't a big fan to voice the least. But that may be only just me.I do know that rented accommodation is exceedingly expensive there and almost impossible to find. Most family working there enjoy to commute from over the border in Spain.Spain's profoundly more fun to live in,and at the moment in attendance are plenty of English teaching job around.
