I drive 2 thousand miles into Mexico every year with California plates on my motor and an American flag sticker in my pay for window, I've NEVER have any problems in the 9 years I've be doing this.

I am an American living in Mexico...ancestors come up to me to talk to me because they see my American coupé plates...they love Americans . I have never have a problem here. I really dont know but just to be not detrimental dont wear it, what part of mexico are you going theres really nice places luck contained by your trip.....

My wife is a US citizen, many US citizens live contained by my country. You can see the streets plenty of cars with Texas Plates.
You can see masses people wearing Tshirts next to the american flag (which personally I do not read, because for mexicans the flag is almost sacred).
I never have see somebody mistreating a US citizen. I recognize near are bad general public in México, such as they are too contained by every single city of USA.
Now, canadian people are warmth too.

If you step by a border city like Tijuana, Juarez, Reynosa or Laredo within the middle of the night for sure you are within trouble doesn't matter where on earth are you from.
There are a lot of Mexican cities that are immensely used to have foreign those, Monterrey, Guanajuato, Queretaro, all beach in Mexico, you wouldn't enjoy troubles to walk around and shop or hold fun.
