Why is nearby a statue of Abraham Lincoln contained by Tijuana, Mexico?
I recently go on a trip to Mexico. Our group thought it was strange that one of the first things we saw upon arriving contained by the country was a statue of Abraham Lincoln. Does anyone know why it's in that?
Answers: not terribly strange at adjectives and here's why: Mexico's president Benito Juárez during the early 1860s, exchanged friendly correspondence with Lincoln and Mexico remembers Lincoln's ill will to the Mexican-American War.
Outside the United States
Statues of Lincoln can be found in other countries. In Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, is a 13-foot (4 m) high-ranking bronze statue, a gift from the United States, loyal in 1966 by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The U.S. received a statue of Benito Juárez contained by exchange, which is in Washington, D.C. Juárez and Lincoln exchanged friendly post during the American Civil War, Mexico remembers Lincoln's opposition to the Mexican-American War. (For his bit, Juárez refused to aide the Confederacy and jailed those Confederates who sought his serve.) There is also a statue in Tijuana, Mexico, showing Lincoln standing and destroying the chains of slavery. There are at least possible three statues of Lincoln in the United Kingdom — one within London by Augustus St. Gaudens, one in Manchester by George Grey Barnard and another contained by Edinburgh by George Bissell. In Havana, Cuba, there is a bust of Abraham Lincoln within the Museum of the Revolution, a small statue of him in front of the Abraham Lincoln School, and a bust of him close at hand the Capitolio. i was wondering why to? i see it and thought the same article!
Because he freed the Mexicans from the tomato farms and vacationed contained by Tijuana the summer before he be assassinated.
