Your best bet (especially if you enjoy to make a connection) is to book it directly next to the airline. More often than not, Orbitz, Travelocity, Kayak, etc book connections SO close together that it can be difficult to brand name your connecting flight. I see this happen ALL the time...and population think it's the airlines criticize, when in actuality it is the travel service provider. The airlines itself know to allow more time (in case of weather, ATC, etc). This can be paid a huge difference, especially on the way subsidise into the states, when you have to clear customs. I would recommend looking at United (it would be a TED flight) I found orbitz to be one of the best sites....Make sure you swim near the dolphins Life changing experience.

I enjoy been to cancun abundant times and always fly near Applevacations or Funjet Vacations. They include the air & hotel adjectives in one. If you dont obligation the hotel reservation then still progress w/ them. They usually have sale of $199. pls tax on airfare for 7days. They are vastly safe and i wouldn't use anyone else. I would dance w/apple more they have cheaper sale and it depends where you live also. Oh and do purchase the insurance w/your tickets. My brother didn't listen to me and didn't purchase the insurance and immediately he can't go to cancun, due to work and looked-for to get his money stern (he paid $1200.00) and he is solely getting about $450.00 subsidise, if he would have rewarded the insurance he would have gotten more or less $1150.00. Make sure with the airline what is the policy if you have need of to cancel your trip. He be using american airlines. Try AeroMéxico. They have an english page if you cannot realize spanish. American Airlines has cheap flights. Continental serves acctual food, but some of the planes are really small and cramped.
