Answers:    Yes, you CAN do it. Driving contained by Mexico is a challenge, but can also be a great course to discover Mexico. You will need to capture Mexican car insurance. See 1st website for my favorite place. You will stipulation a tourist card which you will get at the border for give or take a few $22.00. You will need to walk to the car charter office contained by the first town across the border to get a authorization for your car. It will cost in the order of $50.00. You will get a sticker for the fanlight and some paper work to hang on to. You MUST have a communiqu¨¦ on company letterhead from the finance company for your sports car giving you permission to brng the saloon into Mexico. They are VERY picky about this. Car nouns companies all enjoy a special office for this. Call them and request the notification. You will also need your license and registration. See 2nd website for info on adjectives this. Now, you need to seize very cultured on driving in Mexico...close to NEVER drive after sunset...due to animals on the highway, and bad road conditions surrounded by places. You can plan your drive using the 3rd website...it is pretty good, but not model. You will need to buy a GUIA ROJI, the Mexican road atlas. If you cannot find one at a local big book store, they can directive it or you can get it on Amazon.com. I live surrounded by Vercruz, about in the middle on the route you will take. I only helped another household plan their roadtrip to Cancun as I am familiar near the highways most of the instrument. If I can help within any other way, please e-mail me.

I a short time ago saw the answer from "weechi". I disagree with him. I am an American woman and enjoy made this trip alone uneventfully. I drive in Mexico adjectives the time and have never have any trouble with Mexican police. The roads are not model...true, but most of that route has correct roads...tere have be great improvements in times gone by couple of years. Mexican car insurance is exceedingly cheap...so that is not an issue. The tolls are NOT astronomical. you can drive adjectives the way from the border to Veracruz city and the tolls are smaller amount than $20.00...I have done it. I own heard that surrounded by some parts of Mexico there are roads beside high tolls, but here surrounded by the east, the avg. toll is $2.00 to $3.00 and TOLL roads are WONDERFUL well-maintained 4 lane highways...so they are a pleasure to drive on. The horror stories are greatly exaggerated. It IS a drastically long drive, and there are short areas of not as obedient roads, and signs are sometimes behind foilage or missing...but it is NOT a nightmare drive.
you can, but you are flipping crazy if you do. first of adjectives, a financial institution that would give you sanction for this trip? i don't know of any. not only that, you own to pay double insurance the complete time...your insurance here, because you have a loan, and your insurance contained by mexico...which would not cover the cost of your car anyways and if you lost your sports car, you'd be paying for nothing.

not with the sole purpose that, but the roads are HORRIBLE once you get down into the Yucatan. i connote, horrible. and the chance of getting your coup¨¦ or belongings stolen, and being disappeared for dead, or worse, are pretty large. in ornament, the tolls are astronomical...and you can't do it without using toll roads.

i looked-for to do this trip once with my boyfriend, who is mexican, and living surrounded by mexico. he's a big guy, tough guy, and pretty worldly as well. he said within was no unpredictability EVER that he would make this trip next to me, that's how dangerous he feel it was. within his mind, it was of late stupid, and he would rather fly any daytime. when you hear about mexicans making this trip...i be a sign of, of course they do. but you are chitchat about the average guy. a mexican driving a nice sports car, or a mexican with money...who understand what they have to lose, does NOT formulate this trip. and being an american, rich or poor...populace are going to think you own money.and that puts you in a dicey position.

i get the antic thing..and believe me, i required to do it as well. but have lived there, and purely understanding the peril and the costs involved in this gentle of trip...it's not worth it. try something a little more sufferable. what about a trip to puerto vallarta? or a colonial city within central mexico? you could use the bus...that's adventurous. taxi are cheap.
hope you have lots of money to clear off those cops man.. i've gone from LA to Mexico City 2 times.. it be crazy and fun but a real anguish in the butt.. lately fly dude or cross country the US.
