What is the gran chichimeca?

Answers:    I live in the nouns called by the spaniard conquerors as "Gran Chichimeca" (it process "Great Chichimica").

Chichimecas were aboriginal indigeanuos tribes, nomades, most of them náhuatl speakers (aztecs language). "Chichimeca" means surrounded by náhuatl "dog without owner", explanation "barbarian". Chichimecas were barbarians from the north to the eye of aztecs.

Sparks give you the location of the area the spaniards call "Gran chichimeca" (english speakers would have call it "chichimecaland").

Since chichimecas were in fact many tribes, those be easily "took away" (killed) by spaniards. Those indians didn't acquire mix, spaniards brought into this area pacific friendly indians from other areas (like talxcala and others) to work.

La Gran Chichimeca be a term used by the Spanish conquistadores of the 16th century to refer to an nouns of the northern central Mexican plateau, a kingdom which today is encompassed by the modern Mexican states of Jalisco, Aguascalientes, Nayarit, Guanajuato and Zacatecas. They derived the occupancy from the Aztec who referred to the nomadic tribes of the area as “chichimeca”. I love Chimichangas!
