Buying a vehicle contained by Mexico?
Has anyone bought a car within Mexico? We're visiting Puerto Vallarta and I'd close to to buy a car on the opening. Any experiences and advice would be useful. Thanks.
Answers: I have lived within Mexico for two years. First, are you white? If you are get someone you know resembling a friend to go next to you that speaks Spanish well. Because they will see you coming approaching a tourist and try to take benefit of you. Its much easier and believe me much cheaper to hire a driver, you can negotiate
with them for a better fare. Everyone lately wants to gross some money so this better. Most of these car lots buy broken, flooded, wrecked and basically plain lemons and sell them for cheap within Mexico. Be careful , natural life in Mexico is resembling a different planet.
Are you an American citizen? If so, It is against Mexican law to deal in a car to a foreign citizen who is surrounded by Mexico with newly a tourist card. The purchaser must have an FM3 or FM2 visa. Why would you want to buy a saloon in Mexico? They cost more surrounded by Mexico than in the states. Also, models sold contained by Mexico usually will not pass EPA standards within the states...and you would have to retribution a large customs charge if you tried to help yourself to it back to the states. Also...you would not be allowed to register it contained by Mexico.In other words...cannot be done. Now, some unscupulous salesman or individual may offer to market you a car...but you would never gain out of the country with it. Why 'on the way' and why do you want the saloon. Cars are expensive here and you can't take it wager on to the US without mucho problemas (if at all). Finding a well brought-up car along the path would require more than a week of looking and getting it registered. Some Aduana offices may not want to verbs if you only own a tourist visa
Either buy a car up north or embezzle the bus. Have registration in your autograph and get insurance. Insurance for a Mexican plated saloon is about double that of a US plated
