Thinking of moving to Puerto Vallarta, not sure where on earth to start. 53, and just now divorced?

Answers:    Are you talking give or take a few retiring to Mexico with a steady income? If so, you can grasp an fM3 visa and retire to Mexico. If you need to work...unattainable, as work visas are nearly impossible to get and even professional work pays dirt. Puerta Vallarta will be more expensive to live surrounded by than many places because it is a shore town and a tourist town...but if your budget allows that..then explicitly fine. You need a minimum steady, provable income of $1200 MONTH to seize an FM3. Need to get it at nearest Mexican consulate give or take a few a month before you plan to move. See 1st site below. If you plan to move household stuff...it is greatly expensive...better to bring only personal stuff and buy topical furniture and household things in Mexico...will be cheaper...and FUN! You must hold an FM3 to bring any kind of household stock into Mexico. If you are dead serious and would similar to lots of details on the move and retiring to Mexico, including bringing car, bank, medical care, etc..you can email me and I'll be glad to give a hand you.
OK, You are welcome, roughly speaking 10000 people from other countries live here. I imagine You know the place, this helps profusely. The best You can do is start to build an overview. I can recommend You a directory and a forum where inhabitants discuss topics like that. The directory is at http://www.puerto-vallarta-directory.com and the forum You can find at: http://www.vallartascene.com

Good luck !
I envy you. I only just got subsidise from a week in Puerto Vallarta and I would move here in a second if I could. I did identify that while there be some great condos, there be a lot more rundown, poor looking houses. I consistency like it would be expensive to live here, being on the the deep and being a tourist region. I also have to know a lot of Spanish, which made it difficult. I type of felt unsafe when rotten the resort too. Just some things to think more or less. You can cross the border on a Tourist Visa (FM-T) and stay for 180 days (half a year). Then you must cross back to the US, but you can come hindmost the next hours of daylight for another 180 day stay. So I would try that first. The further you win away from tourist areas, the cheaper you can live, but the better your Spanish has to be.
Some fitting books to read before you dance are in the links below.
