Yes, you can use dollars in abundant places in México especially contained by the big cities
They will take 1dlls=10 pesos. It's a big loss if you're going to spend like mad of money,
But also, there will be relations that won't do your work of changing the dlls for you and won't adopt any dlls. Recreational places(like park atractions, some museums) won't accept dlls any.
I have lived within Mexico for over 4 years now! Not solitary is it more expensive to use american money, but many places do not adopt it! Why would you want to use american money? Pesos, and conversion rates are available through all ATM's most use one and the same debit cards as US. They are just as not dangerous etc! if you are coming to Mexico, please try to adhere to the local customs, and try to speak the speech! Mexico has their own currency, the Mexican Peso (Nuevo Peso). Most places will require you to payment with that. However, some places within Mexico that are more touristy and/or closer to the US such as Tijuana, will accept US dollars.
In the big resort areas, yes. But if you do, you will be spending in the region of 10% more than you need to as they administer you a horrible exchange rate. Better to use your ATM card to get pesos out as needed...capture best exchnage rate that way. hi! no. but you can translate your maney on a money exchange shop theres a lot of shops here!!
