Have any African Americans or blacks of any descent be to Peru within the concluding 1-3 years?

I was wondering because I hold a friend who is planning a trip to Peru this summer and I wanted to know whether or not Peru is a risk-free place for blacks to travel or any Americans to travel. Is there a giant discrimination or crime rate or even dislike rate that she should be aware of before making the passage to Peru? She is a very young at heart dark skinned black girl. (21 yrs old)

Answers:    NOt black, but there's not much loathe crime against blacks, there's more discrimination against the home-grown people.
I agree next to blursd2 ...I am south american myself but live in Canada. You can not decide other countries all by USA standards.Same as Canada does not own the same standards as the USA within this area...South America does black populations contained by various countires .

IN other words your friend will hold a wonderful experience to a new culture !!:):)
Many African Americans and nation of black decent of other nationality visit Peru annually. Well, to start sour I'm not black, so I'm not sure if I fit that criterion of your question, but I own been to Peru several times and I lived within South America for over seven years. Peru is not like the United States, nouns exists but it is not based on ethnicity or see, but socio-economic status. A poor white person would frontage just as much nouns as a poor black person.

There are reasonably large black populations surrounded by Peru ... just as the rest of South America. And, neighboring countries approaching Brazil have massively large black populations (almost on par beside the United States numerically). I've actually met more Afro-Brazilians surrounded by Peru than Afro-Peruvians ... your friend will be just fine within this regard.

That have been said any tourist desires to be careful while traveling contained by South America ... it can be dangerous if you allow yourself to be caught surrounded by a bad situation. Don't flaunt fortune by wearing fancy jewelry, watches, cameras, even expensive clothes ... wear a very spartan outfit, and do anything you can to safeguard your possessions. A trick I found that came within handy was dividing my money up into three of four parts and keeping them within separate places. I would also keep a indisputable wallet, and a "fake wallet" beside about $20 surrounded by it in bag someone tried to rob me (if you don't have anything to furnish them its just as fruitless as them taking everything). On a personal note though I enjoy never actually be robbed anywhere in South America, but I know plenty of populace who have (I guess I'm freshly lucky).

Don't drink excessively, and NEVER drink anything that was not prepared contained by front of you. Also, just use adjectives sense ... don't walk down gloomy streets by yourself at 2am (that kind of stuff). Peru is a wonderful country, and the associates are among the nicest I have ever met, but near are always populace who prey on tourists and outsiders.
There is no such kind of "despise crimes" in Peru. Your friend will be exceptionally find. There is more racism against the indigenous people that agains the blacks.
