Bolivia visa requirement for Americans?
Has it gone into effect yet? I can't find any information online.
Answers: I found some information on the Bolivian foreign relations ministry website -
http://www.rree.gov.bo/docsistema/ciber.
It's contained by Spanish, so if you can't read it, it basically say that effective Sept 1, 2007 American citizens will want a visa. You will need to shift the nearest Bolivian consulate and get the form (or download online at http://www.rree.gov.bo).
To go and get the visa you will need a valid passport, proof of your hotel reservation or a memo of invitation to stay with someone, a photocopy of your arrival and return tickets or travel itinerary, proof of available financial funds (a credit card or equivalent document, valid for all along your stay), and a photocopy of your yellow restlessness vaccination.
That's a massively brief summary of what the document contains about requirements for American citizens to enter Bolivia.
Oh yes, the visa is valid for 90 days and costs $100
...
Oops! my mistake, yes, it go into effect Dec 1, not Sept 1.
It goes into effect on December 1, 2007. When I be leaving Bolivia on October 4th, the immigration official told me that they thought that the process would be in place by December 1, but that they thought that you could procure the visa at the border--at least initially.
hello,
visa is not required for you if you are a citizen of USA for a stay up to 30 days.
