Answers:    I, too, enjoy been questioning for things to do on my trip to CR.
Using google Earth, i located a coral reef preserve near the southern Pacific coast, close by Jaco Beach.
Google Earth has be very polite.
When we arrive in San Jose we plan on going to the Gold museum & Jade museum, both low cost possibly $5-6 to get contained by.
I have hear to get OUT of San Jose as it is a busy, dirty, and UN SAFE place to stay.
We plan on touring the Pacific coast & backbone up to the Arenal volcano area. at hand are so many National parks, refugee, & preserves,
good luck & any info you could distribute back to me would be compassionate.
HAVE FUN !
I have to give an account you that San Jose is not really a place to do much. During the day, cruise around the center and check out the busy market and get a have a feeling for the way that relatives live in this country. There is cheap coffee that they grind up fresh within front of you and it smells amazing. I want to buy more just to experience the aroma a further time! It is not safe at hours of darkness in the city however, lots of muggings.

Cheap things other include the beach. Find a Cabina or hostel next to a kitchen and you are set. Sun, Surf, and maybe a turtle tour! Check out Puerto Viejo or Cahuita on the Caribbean coast. There is a great reef for snorkeling surrounded by the Cahuita National Park.

Generally there are cabinas or hotels surrounded by each nouns of the country that are about $12 - $20 per soul per night.

Cheap is getting to be more difficult within this country as the cost of living is increasing by 11% per year. Not the same as traveling within other central american countries any more. But the infrastructure is present plenty to support tourism and ensure that people can travel relatively undamagingly around the country. Theiving is the only definite concern you may have, but resembling any vacation, be prepared and keep hold of your valuables safe.
take drunk on guaro. it's good stuff. a friend brought me home a bottle. he lived near for 2 years and his room board and all his expenses run him less than $200 per month. i suppose there is profoundly to do that's not very expensive.
