What are the prices of gas, electricity, internet, grocery?
We are planning to move to Costa Rica and would like to know what the cost of living comparing to Canada. Just a few examples of how much the essential things are would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Answers: Costa Rica is a honest place to live depending the location! For example, San Jose is the capital city so expenses contained by real state will be not exceedingly expensive for a local citizen! Here, electricity is manage lately by few national companies but the price is the same for adjectives the country, in San Jose is the "Compa~nía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz", and the minimum price for a residential zone is approximately c5.000, that are almost $10 per month; residential phone is almost c3.000 that are approx. $6 per month. Water service is potable within the 90% of the country an the amount to pay is aprox c4.000 ($8) monthly, but I recommend you that if u come, mix bottled sea with the local sea in the first 2 months, that track your body get adapted. Internet is operate by RACSA, another gouvernmental company, the advantage is that it is thoroughly cheap, you can ask for prices on www.grupoice.com. And in grocery, my people spend almost $250 per month but we are very comsumist (is it ably spelled?), and we buy the necessary... and like mad more! lol Taxes: by law, is 13% but is included contained by the price of the object or service; Residential Tax, it depends on the place you live, for example I live contained by San Pedro an we pay almost the c35.000 ($70) semestral. In clothes and stuff similar to that here are a lot of places to choose, if you want expensive step to Escazu, or cheaper in San Jose Downtown... Fast Food Rests and American Rests: McD's, Wendy's, BK, KFC, Subway, Quiznos, Campero, Fridays, Tony Roman's, and more... As you find you get notice, I'm Costa Rican, so have a nice trip and ENJOY COSTA RICA please! OH! And remember, Services prices are the minimun, but depending how u used them, price could increase deeply!
