As an american is it not dangerous for me to step to caracas venezula?
Answers: I was contained by Caracas a few years ago, without any problems. However, at this point the situation have changed somewhat. Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's president, is quite hostile to the U.S., and probably many of his populace will follow his lead. Plus, due to our current rule, anti-US sentiments are high across the world and specially in South America. Finally, Chavez's movements have just now caused revolts and riots among his own family, and the violence have made many areas unsafe. You might be okay, but if it's possible I'd say aloud wait on going to Caracas for a while and see how the situation go. Or consider a safer place like Ecuador or Peru.
It is not really protected for anyone american or otherwise...
Venezuela is a very destructive country... As an American, it is not safe for you to jump anywhere.
Ecuador is hardly safer than Venezuela. Being an American will not organize to anything unsafe in any Latin American country, have money and being an jammy target may. If you stay in a right hotel like the Tamanaco and stay within nice areas like Altamira and Las Mercedes, nought will happen. Just bring taxis that you phone, and you should be fine. Hi, I'm from Venezuela, and currently living surrounded by Spain. Caracas is a huge city, there are precarious places and nice places. I used to work for a transnational company so I know a lot of foreign associates living in Venezuela (mostly Europeans). I am sure inhabitants in Venezuela wouldn't distinguish between an American and a Norwegian. If you resolve to travel to Caracas I really recommend you to visit the following:
1. Juan Sebastian Bar: near is not a bar within the world like this one! in that are always live performances of jazz and salsa.
2. El 'Avila: if you resembling doing some exercises (but do it in the morning)
3. Galipan: a great picture of the city... and remember to eat "sandwich de pernil"
If you want to visit other places surrounded by Venezuela the best one is "Los Roques"... I tell you my friend, you would not regret it. Check out this network page: www.los-roques.com
