Costa rica?
I'm going to costa rica in a couple of weeks for leave. Do I need to obtain some colones or will I be ok to just enjoy us dollars?
Answers: It's better to have both, of late in overnight case someone doesn't know what the exchange is and charges you more. Most costarican places accept US dollars for joy and you can always run to the bank and transformation some for colones!
You need both. Most highest tourist towns/cities take U.S. dollars. Other smaller national shops and stands singular accept Colones. So no, its not ok to purely have U.S. dollars. Dont verbs about getting colones as a short time ago about everywhere will adopt US dollars. Even the ATM machines in Costa Rica dispense both colones and US $
When you spend your dollars you will achieve colones as change.
Many ATMs work on the PLUS make friends
you should get both. a few colones will back you when you go to the smaller cities even though most areas do help yourself to dollars. a mix of a few colones and us dollars should help you out.
fyi-for some tourists their atm cards wont work on the machines. you enjoy to goto a bank of costa rica and that can be a chore. even though most stores will adopt credit cards you will want cash for public transportation and emergency. it happened to me and for some pretext the card didnt work so we had to take cash contained by monte verde.
