Once I buy land in Chile, can I live there?

Are Americans restricted from moving to Chile to live, work, retire or whatever? Don't all people have the right of free travel and residence? We are considsering buying real estate (farms or ranches) in Chile as we are attracted by the conservation nature of the society.
