Answers: I would not recommend it. Highways are very hazardous places for bikers and roads in rural areas are enormously bad, except impenetrable at times. Also, as a foreigner in these countries, especially as an American, you are a target for adjectives sorts of problems. The majority of the people of the race you encounter will be nice and friendly, but chances of run-ins next to unsavory character are great due to all along such a trip. As the previous answerer mentioned, guerrillas (not gorillas) in Colombia are an issue. Americans are advise not to go to Colombia at adjectives, much less cross border areas on bicycle.
To answer your cross-examine, "maybe." Is it worth the mixed risks? Only you can decide.
No... making that trip by saloon would be dangerous.. bike would be really crazy and precarious. you would have border problems, problems next to other drivers, crime in some places, possibility of kidnap in a few spots, roads next to 1000+ foot cliffs and no guard rails, etc.. I expect the main problem would be crazy drivers. People would be amazed that you'd do such a item, so they'd probably be very variety to you, but I'm afraid cars and trucks there newly don't respect pedestrians or slower moving vehicles, and contained by some places the exhaust would spew out black smoke in your facade. You'd need to catch on a boat from Panama to Colombia, and plan your route carefully through Colombia especially because of the gorilla;-) Unfortunately I'd have to influence, all things considered, that you wouldn't get it safely.
Personally, that you be American would not put you in that much hazard, Costa Rica exists today economically because of tourism. Still, I would say no, simply because abundantly of people try things approaching this and get a short time ago about in the middle before realize that they can't overcome the task contained by front of them. If you are capable of doing this, however, I would suggest you do, simply because those minor excursions completely relocate your outlook on the life of the adjectives American
