Colombia is impossible to tell apart as columbia?
i got confused... are they matching and both refer to the country in north america? columbia=colombia
Answers: The country is contained by SOUTH America.
When they refer to the country as Columbia, yes, it's the same country but it's misspelled. The correct spelling of the nickname of the country, even in English, is ColOmbia, to differentiate it from the lots "colUmbias" there are around here.
Also, contained by Spanish, when they refer to Columbia University, they leave the 'u' and write it "Universidad de ColUmbia".

The proper given name of the country is COLOMBIA...not Columbia, and is the country in South America, which means city is Bogotá. God! With those answers, no wonder you might get even more confused...
ColOmbia is a country contained by South America.
ColUmbia is the name of several cities or towns surrounded by the United States.
Even though they come from the same word "Columbus" and be both used as a tribute to Columbus, they are both spelled different and people should stop mixing them up.
