I need some advice for a trip to Peru to see the Inca ruins?

I'm going in Aug to cuzco for 5-7 days to see Macchu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. Does anyone know of a good Peru or American tour operator so I can book a package? I need some advice.

Answers:
I went to Lima, Cuzco and Machu Picchu 3 years ago using the company I linked to below. They have tour packages that match the length of time you are talking about, and they were quite flexible. My travel companion and I were able to arrange an extra day at Machu Picchu without a problem. Just be ready to catch a very early train from Cuzco to Aguas Calientes the day you go to Machu Picchu. Also, be prepared for the altitude difference if you're not accustomed to 2 miles above sea level. The first day in Cuzco zonked us pretty good until we adjusted (or started drinking lots of coca tea).

GAP (Great Adventure People) are quite cheap, but very good. They do a variety of trips across Latin America.

If you want to walk the Inca Trail (hard work, but great), then you should book early.

I've been to the area twice and I love it. Very safe and beautiful. Do expect the total cost of a package to increase a bit once you get there. Not by much, but there will be a fee or two tacked on, most likely. That was my experience. Just the way business is done over there. YOu can inquire about it beforehand, if you want. Have fun!
