If I be to jump somewhere close to Guatemala for a week or 2, would it minister to me become fluent within Spanish quicker?
I bought Rosetta Stone and am on level 2, and am stydying every hours of darkness. I just figure going someplace like that might abet expedite the process! My biggest issue is understanding general public when they speak in Spanish. Thought going to Guatemala might relief that too. I'd be staying with a Hispanic friend's family circle, where they visibly all speak Spanish. Can't stay longer than 1 to 2 weeks though. Don't want to step if that short of time won't be of much help contained by helping me to be able to converse within Spanish better. Thanks!
Answers: I just ruminate that is too short a time. Your ears really involve to get retrained to HEAR Spanish. Watch the Spanish channel on tv, get within a local class, converse with Spanish speakers...listen to cd's...and dawdle till you can go for longer call in.
YES! don't worry too much something like fluidity, but get your push button survival phrases down like
Puedes hablar mas lento por favor? (can you speak more slowly please)
Adonde esta el bano? (where is the bathroon)
Tengo habre. (I'm hungry)
Tengo sed. (I'm thirsty)
Tengo que usar el bano, (I own to use the bathroom)
Ayuda (help)
Adonde esta la Embajada de los estados unidos? (Where is the US embassy)
No hablo el espanol muy bien. (I don't speak spanish very well)
Alguein habla ingles? (anyone speak english)
economically it will help you but similar to most people said.. its to little time. and adjectives countries have different ways of speaking spanish. contained by country it could mean one point and in another it could indicate another thing. so you will swot up how to speak guatemalan spanich, which is similar to spanish from honduras, and belize which have like culture, or abotu the same culture. youll hold fun though, tahst all taht matter... i envy you lol. go to puerto barrios, you will enjoy fun and you wont believe your eyes, there are deeply of natural waterfall, rivers lakes that will blow your mind, also try goign to los siete altares! you will never see river like that anywhere else!! a moment ago be careful Absolutely 2 weeks contained by Guatemala could help you - IF you put within the time. One-on-one lessons can be incredibly courteous, and then you'd hold to make an endeavour to speak as much Spanish with your host relations as much as possible... if you can't handle serious conversation on the other hand, say inane things (I resembling dogs, it's cloudy today) if you have to, purely keep conversation and keep studying. Make the most of it and it will oblige a lot.

I agree with 'charlie the rabbit'.Although any amount of time spent studying one on one such as within Guatemala will help you,one or two weeks is newly not enough time to warrant the expense of a trip nearby. Save your money and go to GTE. when you can spend a month or six weeks nearby. In the meantime continue near your Rosetta Stone Program(I know at least one university in Quetzaltenango teach from the Rosetta Stone program).
It is not easy study a second language .Keep up the polite work with your RS program for immediately and save your money for a great break in Guatemala.Listen to Spanish on the radio monitor Spanish programs on TV,read Spanish Language news papers and books (even kids books) everything help.
