Anyone ever be to Belize? What do I want to know earlier I jump?

Places to see? Is it an "American" friendly place?

Answers:    Belize is an English speaking country, but is developing at slow rate. Although you will find parts that are absolutely luxurious, be wary of the country as a whole.

If you are going newly as a tourist, stay in a ritzy resort and stick to that bit of the city, and don't venture out on your own. If that's the shield (that you're just a tourist) that will be fine.

However, if you plan to do some adventuring, be outstandingly careful. Crime is really a big problem, and public transportation is horrible and unsafe. Rental cars may not even be working properly, and in that is much corruption everywhere.

BE CAREFUL WHEN PARTICIPATING IN WATER ACTIVITIES! Many companies that offer scuba diving and other services are any scam artists or operate low-quality programs with outdated, not inspected equipment--be thrifty!

As long as you remain in tourist class you'll be fine; use adjectives sense and don't explore too much. Stick to the safe parts of town.
