i'm going on a trip really soon and need to convert some of my us dollars to peruvian money also particular as PEN

Answers: The safest place for you to get soles (that's the cross of the currency) is by withdrawing money from ATM's. Check with your guard and let them know the date for your trip. You can also exchange at banks, though you won't seize the best rates. Banco de Credito is has by far the largest presence surrounded by the country. In Peru it IS allowed to exchange money in the street, but you run the risk of getting counterfeit bills, so don't do it.

Why don't you WAIT until you GET TO PERU and THEN exchange your money AT A BANK... you aren't going to exchange money in the U.S. because the U.S. bank system is not like it is contained by the rest of the world.

That anyone said.. the ONLY AmeriKan banks that own exchange facilities are bank with NATIONAL within their names. You can buy a packet, worth in the order of $20 or so in foreign currency, contained by a NATIONAL bank and you can use that to repay cab fare or for instantaneous expences in coutry.
When you are in fact in a foreign country, NEVER exchange currency ON THE STREET... not lone will you get screwed on the exchange... it is ILLEGAL contained by many countries and can lands you IN JAIL.
