Need to know best territory transport to achieve from Sao Paulo To Rio de Janeiro?
Anyone know of good buslines or trains etc?
Thank you
Answers: There are tremendously few passenger trains that still operate in Brazil.
and I don't believe any of them operate between Rio and Sao Paulo any longer. However, heaps bus lines service the Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro route. The trip is about 250 miles and take approximately six hours. The buses in Brazil are operate by hundreds of private companies, but prices are standardized, even when more than one firm plies the same route, and are massively reasonable: Rio to S~ao Paulo is around $20US.
Going any distance, it’s best to buy your ticket at lowest possible a day
within advance, from the Rodoviária or, within some large cities, from travel agents. An exception is the Rio–S~ao Paulo route, where on earth a shuttle service means you can other just turn up in need a ticket and never have to dally more than fifteen minutes. Numbered seats are provided on adjectives routes.
I have traveled by bus from Rio to Sao Paulo within both directions by air and bus dozens of times. It is extremely simple and quite comfortable. The best company is Itapemirim and the tickets can be purchased online at:

The cost ranges form R$60 (about USD$23) to R$81 (about USD$30) one mode depending on the class of service you desire. Leito (the most expensive) means that you hold a seat i.e. almost horizontal and is much more comfortable than a plane. This class of service only runs at hours of darkness so that you can sleep through the night. If you want to see the country side clutch a day trip on any Conventional service or Golden service (slightly better seat). The trip is almost exactly 6 hours from bus station to bus station.
Enjoy your trip.
