Stay away from San Jose, dont flash your money, and preserve your money separated in different places... in recent times in grip.
I was nearby 2 weeks ago and I felt out of danger the whole time... I drove to Pavones.
If you fly contained by late seize a taxi to a hotel within the Airport area (Best Western Irazu, and hampton inn are both good) and afterwards rent a car and drive the subsequent morning.
Use common sense... and I would unequivocally get out of San Jose ASAP.
Also, be greatly careful driving... the roads can be a bit alarming.

As a Costa Rican I’m afraid to recognized explicitly not safe to budge out at night surrounded by San Jose or any main town, also do not set off any values on your car, at hand are some people that similar to specifically to still American passports since they have unmistaken value at the “black market” I lived contained by San Jose, Costa Rica for awhile a few years ago. stay away from san jose as much as possible. is like any other big city around the world... when you are outside san jose don't set off luggage or personal items out of site. the rest, just soak up and have a appropriate trip. take care' Yes, view out for the mutant bananas that come to life and devour babies.
