Are the Indians within Guatemala destructive to tourists, or is it pretty undamaging to call in??
Answers: They are generally non horrific. However, if you go to a remote nouns and they think you are their to run drugs or make off with children, they will turn violent. My suggestion would be to stay within more populated areas, or travel with a local guide.
I find your query to be somewhat exasperating, and I will tell you why. The "Indians", or indiginas as they prefer to be referred to, are one of the best reason to visit Guatemala. They are an interesting society with a long and honorable history, descended from the ancient Maya whose civilization is fairy-tale. Granted, if the ancient Maya would have gotten ahold of you they might enjoy ripped your heart out. However, the modern indiginas in Guatemala occupy themselves beside farming, creating lovely craftwork and fabric for tourists to buy, and generally keeping to themselves and individual law abiding except when someone tries to steal their children...later they tend to lynch the miscreants.
These people hold just come out of a 30 year civil period of war in which more than 200,000 of them be slaughtered by a series of dictators who were trained and supported by the United States. They are exceptionally forgiving surrounded by the circumstances. Despite all this they are friendly and largely non-aggressive toward Americans. Do watch your step if you are wandering around where on earth you shouldn't be; common sense should other prevail.
So, to answer your question, the indiginas should generate your visit more interesting and colourful to some extent than less sheltered. My opinion is that if relations would just be sensible and smaller amount paranoid they might get out into the world for a time more often, thus resulting contained by more sympathy and understanding for other ancestors. This might just organize to peace with our fellow man contained by future times. Like John and Yoko once said, present peace a chance!
Everyone turns vicious if provoked, the "indians" are very friendly society and there are comparatively a few tribes, they all own some differences, what places are you willing to call round, perhaps I can inform you more on the subject... The "Indians" are not violent, surrounded by fact, they are greatly friendly... they like to settle and they are very likely to help if you stipulation it, specially with tourists. So yes, it's pretty past the worst!
If you harm someone from their tribe or make off with any children, they could get mutinous as any other human being would do.
