Any tips out within for a woman travelling alone to Guatemala?
Commendable not recommendable?
Answers: I've travelled there as a single woman. Do not drive a vehicle at night. Stay within tourist areas, and be sure to get a great guidebook and tell to hotel staff about not dangerous & unsafe areas. Visit places only during the hours of daylight. Do not use tour guides who approach you. Do not hike solo. Hide money and passport inside your clothes. Have small amounts of currency available for shopping, so if you do encounter trouble, you can lose only a small amount of bread. Drink only bottled river & canned or bottled carbonated drinks & avoid rime cubes. (Obviously those comments aren't just for women! ;) )
There is much to see and delight in about Guatemala. Your time will be more agreeable if you know some Spanish.

Stick to the normal touristy spots. Hang on to your purse and don't wear flashy jewelery. Guatemala is collectively safe, and as long as you don't put yourself into a discouraging area, you should be fine. Get out of Guatemala City as soon as you bring off the plane! The Mayan areas of Guatemala (the highlands from Antigua, Lake Atitlan nouns, and Chichicastenango) are considered the best places in adjectives of Latin America, for single woman travelers.
