Are those small Costa Rican airlines sheltered?
Airlines such as Nature Air and Sansa... Safe? I've seen Youtube video of them landing, basically, on dictatorial strip of pavement in the middle of the jungle. Have at hand been any reports of incidents, or should I be no more worried than when I pocket any regular flight?
Answers: They are reasonably not dangerous. I was merely able to draw from statistics as recently as 2003 (see correlation below, in Spanish, I am afraid).
Basically, within 2003, there be air 13 accident in Costa Rica. All but one where on earth non-commerial flights (mostly there be the small planes that dust crops, due to the riskier nature of their business). There be only one commercial quirk, with no casualties.
To minimize risk, I would stay beside the larger carriers (e.g. Sansa) as they may enjoy better aircraft maintenance programs.
You should also remember that smaller planes are more maniobrable that bigger planes, and fly at slower speeds, which allows them to act an emergency landing pretty much in any straight road or flat grazing land and reduces the risks of flying.
Personally, I own (and would again) put my kids in their flights. There are few rides as nice and thrilling as coming from the the deep for a landing on one of those small strips you talk nearly. They will be talking going on for the experience for ever!
They are as safe as any small airlines surrounded by the US. they are but as tom hanks contained by forrest gump said "**** happens." dont verbs just savour it
