To me (I'm American), Brazil and the rest of South America have the reputation of corrupt police, brutal dictatorships, even more brutal drug lords and other gangsters and constant civil period of war or similar civil unrest. Not to mention it is known to own the highest rate of kidnap of foreigners in the world.
Due to this reputation, I do not option to go within any time soon.
However, everyone I met who immigrated to the US are the nicest, most intelligent and creative people I hold ever met. and I would love to meet more on a individual proof.
