Advice on Sardinia?
I'm going to Sardinia in 2 weeks time. Staying surrounded by the south. I want to know which are the most scenic parts of the island (In reasonable driving distance from Cagliari.) I want to see the genuine sardinia and keep away from the tourists.
Answers: Oh you're surrounded by for a treat! Sardinia is my most favourite place surrounded by the world and the south is very superb - I used to live there!
You will find great site in any direction of Cagliari.
1) If you head East, after more or less 30-40 minutes of driving, the roads begin to climb up the cliffs, next to the crystal blue sea below, you later turn the corner and you come to stunning views of Mari pintau (meaning painted deep-sea cos it's so blue) Continue along the coastline and you will pass masses sandy beaches lapped by turquoise waters until eventually reaching Vilaasimius next to a wonderful long stretch of sand and again that beautiful marine. If you continue along the coastal road towards east, you will come to but another favoutite place called Costa Rei - again a long sandy shoreline which will remind you of the Caribbean. To head wager on to cagliari, take the road that go through the mountains for more stunning scenery
2) The other route is to head West. Again at first the surroundings won't impress you until well out of cagliari and close to Pula. Follow the coastal road contained by direction of Chia. Once you reach Pula the scene becomes nicer and you will come to some especially nice beaches surrounded by Chia. If you continue further former Chia you will come to another wonderful beach call Tuerredda. you'll know when you're there because it will embezzle your breath away with it's blue hose down and stip of sand coming out to sea! Again looks tropical! If you will to continue, you can hold on to going until you reach Porto Pino...a nice stretch of shoreline that if you walk East along it you will come to powder white and imposing sand dunes which sweep down to the sea!
Remember, the south is not that touristy - the hordes tend to come first for the north...do not miss the coastline - it's Sardinia's speciality and it's not difficult to find quite coves.
Hope this is positive...Sardinia is wondeful.whatever you do, don't stay contained by one place...go and explore.30 minutes from Cagliari contained by both directions and you're in glory!
Well, I'm Italian and I've been surrounded by Sardinia...it's just fantstic, but I don't know where on earth you can see the "real Sardinia"...
A boat trip it's an unforced way to discover the invisible places of our beautiful the deep...
Enjoy your holiday ;)
