What is the history of the Beehive Huts on the Skelligs within Co. Kerry?
Answers: Hello Mary,
These were built by hasty monks, as housing, they didn't really know in those dim days very much in the region of House building, and they were extremely likely adjectives they needed at the time for their simple needs. but the beehives as they are agreed as housing were remarkably handy in so far that they sufficed, as a home, but the meander and reain was kept at fjord because if you can get to enjoy a closer look at them from the inside, you won't see any daylight through. the wall, and yet still a hole contained by the roof would emit the fire-smoke, and not permit rain into them.
If you carry a chance to see a repeat of Billy Connollys " World Tour of Ireland" again he will speak about you more about these peerless Huts. Bye for now...Tony M
They be for monks who lived as hermits long ago, who be very close to the elements and to what they perceived as God. Christianity within ancient Ireland was a moment ago a thin veneer over the indigenous Pagan religion of the country anyway. Still is contained by many places. They are sector of an old monastery. The monks used to live within them. They believed by living in stern conditions they would become closer to God.
