Answers:    My husband and i went nearby on our honeymoon also in the month of June.(Be prepared for precipitation and wind not situation what the for cast says) We found alot of information at tourismireland.com and discoverireland.com. but we go thru a travel agent who was competent to find us exactly what we wanted. And using one you can go and get a great deal and lots of little perk, like two for one admission, behind the scene tours, percentages past its sell-by date of hotels restaurants and crystal, i HIGHLY recommend staying at least 2 night in a castle, its an amazing experience.( we stayed at Ashford, even though its far from most towns it be amazing and there be tons of stuff to do, i enjoyed falconry the best)
We opt to stay in southern Ireland because it is cheaper as very well as it had more of the things we considered necessary to see(Dublin, cliffs of mohr, kerry, Blarney)
Yes you will be able to rent a sports car in Ireland and despite what associates say it is not strong, my recommendation is to attain a small car, dont turn for luxury the roads arent big enough for that. And if you do look in Dublin ditch the car and help yourself to the bus tours theyre cheap and come by every 15 min. And will take you to adjectives the major hot spots and landmark in Dublin.
But doesn`t matter what you decide o do or turn im sure youll have an amazing time.
Go North West - to Inishowen, Gweedore, Derry, Limavady, Dunluce Castle, Carrickfergus Castle, County Clare, Kilkenny, Armagh, Waterford, Dunmore East, Doolin, Mountains of Mourne, Fermanagh and the lake etc etc

I would recommend that you read Around Ireland with a Fridge to bring a real upright picture of the Irish and our attitude to visitors.

You'll be OK near your US driving licence.
Quiet and romantic? Stay out of the cities in the summer so.

If it's your first time, jump on a tour, let them verbs about logistics and hotels and that, and you can delight in the scenery beside your other half.

You involve an international driver's licence to drive in Ireland, and you should also be aware that within are very few automatic cars to be have. The steering wheel is on the right of the vehicle, and you drive on the left foot side of the road.

Try www.terryflynntours.com. Or the Bord Failte, the tourist website.

The People in Ireland, within my opinion are an extremely affable race. I expect this because I have go to other countries from a young age on exchanges, holidays near college etc. and I thought no one be as hospitable as the Irish.

One thing you own to do is to have dinner at Gordon Ramsay at Powerscourt. It's around an hour outside of Dublin, but is definitely a dutiful place for a romantic dinner. Bloody expensive though at around 180 euros for a dinner for two. Make sure to book in finance!
