How do you cook a really appropriate irish stew?



Answers:    Recipe as follows: (Feeds 3 - 4)

5 large Potatoes peel and cut into large pieces
1/2 pound Lamb /Mutton pieces
2 Carrots sliced
2 Small Onions sliced finely
1 tbsp grease
3 cups stock


Cook onion in grease until soft. Add lamb / mutton and cook until brown. Add sliced carrots and potatoes and cook for another 10 minutes stirring vegetables etc occasionally. Add stock and bring to boil.
Turn down the bake, cover and simmer for approximately 45 -60 minutes depending on the potatoes. season with brackish and pepper

Serve in bowls and wallow in - Delicious
I agree, but instead of lamb, use either stewing steak or ox tail for a more traditional stew..seriously of people who spawn stew, usually add a packet of oxtail soup to the equation, - give somebody a lift about a partially pint of the stock and mix it with the soup surrounded by a jug and next add it to the stew pot give or take a few 10 minutes from the end, it make all the difference.. relish!!
