Then drive down to ECR(East Coast Road) and visit Crocodile prak, Muttukudu Lake and even to Mahabalipuram.

* Besant Nagar Beach & Ashta Lakshmi Temple.
* Mylapore Kabaleeswarar Temple & Many other temple in the surroundings.

* ECR upto Mahabalipuram (Have lots of resorts on the way), VGP issue park, Kovalam Beach, Mahabalipuram Rock temples, Old Light House, Thiruvidanthai Temple, Thiruporur (a branch road)

Then you can consider Kishkintha. Its an beautiful amusement Park. Mahabalipuram, Nanganallur(lots of temples), Muttukaadu, Vedanthangal(its close to chennai) , etc...
If you are much interested about temple, You can go to Thiruparkadal. Wow, what a dazzling place. Kids will love it. Its on the way to Kancheepuram.

golden beach, mahabalipuram, DAKSHIN CHITRA (NEXT TO MGM) , mutukadu, pondicherry, marina coast, besan nagar beach, spencers, tnagar(for shopping), icham bakam sai bab temple, Mahabalipuram more or less 50 kms from chennai city. Nice place .
Golden beach, surrounded by EC road you find many entertainment places afterwards Mamallapur. I am not local but I saw them all its great place to savour.
