can anyone give me firsthand info about Goa. Accomodation, food cost of living etc.?

Depends on the location where you want to live, the costs vary a lot. If you don't eat fish you may have a hard time finding food in some interior locations (unless you plan to cook).

Palolem - beautiful beach in the south - stilt bungalow on beach - 'The Found Things' on south end of beach - 300 rupees per night
Food - meals in restaurants between 50 - 100 rupees p/d.
Beer - big bottle 50 rupees p/d
Enfield - 30,000 rupees!
Scooter hire 150 rupees p/d
Budget about 600 - 700 rupees per day give or take, more if you want to party.Goa is more expensive than the rest of India.enjoy!
