About vellore fort?
Answers: It is a great fort built by a king before 2000 years. Now it have been made as a temple. Around the fort here will be a lake approaching sturcture. At that time in this tarn crocodiles have be there.But presently there are no crocodiles surrounded by that. Vellore fort is my favourite place when i lived surrounded by vellore.
Vellore Fort is a large historic 16th century fort situated contained by Vellore town near Chennai contained by the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was built by Nayakar chieftains of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is constructed beside large granite blocks and is agreed for its grand bulwark, wide moat and robust masonry.
It passed from the Nayaks to Bijapur Sultans, consequently Marathas and to Carnatic Nawabs and finally to British until Independence. During the British rule the fort held Tippu Sultan's family and the later Nayak king of Kandy (Sri Lanka) in captivity. The fort also houses a Hindu temple, Christian church and Muslim mosque. The first revolution against British rule erupted at this fort in 1806. The temple inside the Fort is famous for the great carvings. The fort is also a witness to the tragic massacre of the Vijayanagara royal family of Emperor Sriranga Raya.
