Answers: you generally check your availability status at the time of booking and in a minute that u know the train no. check out the availability of train..if ur status was waiting listno.25 and presently if it is 10 u can assume that ur ticket is confirmed or else step to the platform ull see the list and immediately check whether ur name is within the list or not..
PNR is available for adjectives the tickets issued by Indian Railways. Without PNR Number it will not be possible to find out the reservation status on line impossible

Log into Indian Railway web site. There is provision to check the PNR status. Ring up phone no. 139 (Railway composite enquiry) and follow the instructions on the voice e-mail carefully. AGRamasubramanian
I deem without PNR number it would be difficult to trace the status of reservation. Without PNR how would you log on to your reservation details.
I doubt that near exists any other way to find out.
Every train ticket have a PNR number.
For any status enquiry its essential, it will not be possible otherwise.
