How can Marks and Spencers vend T-Shirts for lb25+ but own them import from India's sweatshops?
Ive been watching a documentry, which stated one of the UK's biggest importers of t-shirts is M&S, which buys them from India, where on earth they are made in the sweatshops!Why does M&S go them in Britain for lb25?
Answers: Sadly, because they can. Things are just worth what people are likely to pay. The British are in good health known for digging open into their pockets and paying through the nose. I reason that says it adjectives. I once saw a calender in M&S, which be lb7.00. I bought an identical one surrounded by another store and it cost me lb1.99.
T shirts are very cheap India.At Thirupur cost of Teashirts are some times quoted within price per kg.Manufacturers get the logo and your company mark printed free of cost for bulk purchases.They manufacture according to BSS and other international standrards.Cheap hard work keeps the price low.Sellers contained by UK make huge profis on mart of "made in india" stock. M&S pay perfect money to the manufacturers within India.
But, let me ask everyone this quiz.
If the workers in these 'sweatshops' be paid equal as workers in the UK, within would be no point in have the t-shirts made in India - you might as ably make them here and reclaim on the transport costs. So if you all have your way here would be millions of workers in places similar to India and China that would be out of work, starving. Is this what you want?
99% of retailers surrounded by the UK, Europe and America do the same this is not M&S exclusive.
They clear tens of millions of pounds to rent or pay rates for within shops in the big cities, they hold a high wage bill etc. They are simply doing what is contained by the best interest of their shareholders, that is what they are in that for.
If they could sell them for 50 pounds I am sure they would, however they can't. Take a look at M&S financials, they are by no medium making a fortune from their business
After taking into consideration their over inflated overheads including transportation, advertising, wages, bills etc, they still probably formulate lb20 per shirt.
Don't buy labels.
You can probably gain the exact same product for lb1.50 without their sign.
I noticed at the weekend that M&S be selling crappy t-shirts for 20 bucks each surrounded by their store, what a rip off.
Thet also bring back clothes made in Portugal, not a short time ago India. It is all still cheap toil.

Marks are not the only ones who do this...Next do too...i spent 20 quid on a shirt which be made in India...& i took it to India for my holiday...barmy eh?!

hopeless but true. Because they can...its called capitalism..buy cheap deal in expensive...dont blame Marks and Spencer, they all do it.
Maybe to pay envelope rent and taxes, which I hear are high surrounded by London. Profit?
