NONE. Having spent a summer in India among some of its poorest (but most wonderful) population, I have see where they shop-open nouns markets. I be amazed at the variety of vendor selling produce and cheap goods on the roadsides within cities and wooden outdoor "stalls" in smaller village. Some things like rice are regularly purchased at the place of origin (grown there) or paper. If you are going there and looking for cheap stuff ask the locales. If you are white you will automatically be charged a good bit more for items; as white ancestors are usually thought to be wealthy. Make friends next to an Indian and let them purchase the item/s you want the subsequent day WITHOUT you . You will be amazed at the difference.

But normaly farmers are not poor. They may work harder and do not show off much but at lowest possible 50% farmers are of middle class and 10% are rich, may be very rich too. Also at hand are farmers who go to Switzerland for holidaying.
