1)life become a lot jammy if you know the system in any situation..nearby are NO clear cut instructions to guide a stranger through...eg.buying any travel tickets. hiring any kind of transportation,asking directions after becomes outstandingly risky because of some undesirables trying to exploit your venerable situation.only approach to avoid the pitfalls is to have local, reliable abet.
2)you have get to get used to strangers staring at you..do not even smile at them ..it can be see as a come-on signal...
3)dress modestly..you come from abroad, so what..you still hold to realise that foreign rules/etiquette does not apply here.
4)apart from these points, India is a wonderful place, go savour your holiday, and let the experience hit you!
It is faultlessly safe provided you remark basic precautions for a single woman such as not going out at dark alone, not being skimpily clad etc.
It also depends where on earth you are planning to visit. Obviously its much safer if you own company, even one more human being would do, but if you are alone you can always book an organised tour that take you everywhere in a group - may be not so nice but indubitably safe. It is out of danger. If you have contacts surrounded by India let them know you are coming and ask them to provide simple stuff for you.. I think here is nothing to achieve so much worried in India.. You can call upon police if some one really bothers you.. If you are a foreigner they will help you for sure..

Itz undisruptive in India. u cn surely come. It be 6 yrs since I went in the past summer. Trust me, India made me SOOOO happy!! Who care if you're going alone? I think you're fine. Most ppl know english within soo it's fine, trust me. If some tries to attack you, yell "THEIF! GET 'EM" and seriously, a million ppl will come running and thrash the guy hahah awesome right?

Well, India is far safer than any other place. Do not look at the crime graphs. They explain to you only partially truths. For the population of India the absolute number of crimes would come as a miniscule percentage.
I am not aware of the places you want to stop by or the number of days you want to spend. If you have no local contacts, best would be contact ITDC, India Tourism Development Corporation for an all-India display or just the State Tourism Development Corporations (state christen + tourism development corporation) within gmail. You woul have a protected trip.
hmm.. its really sad to know tht relatives who are abroad are have this notion tht india is not safe.. but i guess u own been contained by india before..and thts pious.. so make a trip to india this time this time and after going backbone, dont forget to correct the person who told u its unsafe.. am sure u wil..: ) be enormously secured with some around you other as it will make you comfortable.
