My special regards to Mahua, who took out the precious time from busy calendar in replying to this cross-examine, which are really practical.
Well, Now i am also giving you the practical insights which will help the reader greatly.
TRAVEL :(HOW TO REACH)
From NJP to Gangtok :
the normal pre-paid black cab rate is Rs.1200/- for Gangtok.
but if you use your IQ you can surely get a hackney cab at around Rs.8OO-900, those who come there to drop and hold to return back to Gangtok.
Secondly,
you can proceed to SNT (Sikkik Nationalised Transport Division) at Siliguri from where on earth ordinary and delux buses ply till 1.30 finishing. (Rate Rs.90 for ordinary and Rs.120 for Deluxe). As far as I know, Delux ply at 10.30, 12.30 and 1.30.
you can also hire Sumos/Maxs, which cost around Rs.150 per lead.
If you are with luggage, you will own to hire an auto to SNT Depot which will cost you with luggage around Rs.100/-. So if you are 4 pax and hire a Max it will cost you Rs.600/- and would require Coolie or again would hire a hackney cab there to achieve hotel. It is better you search for a Van which would cost you around Rs.800/- -900/-
otherwise apart from Max charges you may own to shed yr pocket by another 150-200 rupees.
LOCAL TRAVEL :
normally, they charge around Rs.800/- for local s/seeing.
if you be in motion thru travel agent.
But, I had a extremely comfortable s/seeing with Karma, the self owned black cab owner whose rates will surprise you. Infact, he is a very humble creature and his rates are very hugely reasonable than others.

He charged Rs.600/- for Seven points (excluding Rumtek)
and Rs.50/- extra for Ropeway parking.
Some of the best and the most appealing points are :
Hanuman Tonk, Ganesh Tonk, Tashi View Points (You can surely spend some extra time there) and would have a magnificant judgment of the Gangtok and other peaks.
it will help yourself to 2-3 hours from 9am
back to city, enjoy lunch there (at around 1-2)
and after proceed at 2 pm
to Ropeway (Rs.50 per head) dont miss it
Monestary, Museum.
At around 4-5 pm the excurssion ends.
TSHONGU LAKE/BABA MANDIR/NATHULA
Since, the First day you arrive at Gangtok, you should arrange in credit, the booking for such points. else you wont be able to travel to Baba mandir or Nathula pass. Then just upto Tshongu Lake.
Normally for MAX they charge around Rs.450/- (but they will ask you 550) upto Nathula.
For Tshongu you can contact Mr. Karma whose rates are quite possible. As Nathula and Baba mandir are on higher alttitudes, i would recommend Max or Sumo. Total Max will cost you around 2500/-
At Tshongu you can hire complete set of jacket which you would be essentially required there. it contains snow boots, gloves, jacket and woolen panama. (Costing Rs.50 per set). If you are planning to visit Nathula, apart from this set you would also be requiring your own immense woolens.
PL NOTE : You should start yr journey at around 7.15 SHARP. else you would be looser. coz solitary limited vehicle are allowed near. more the line, more the que, more waiting to call in nathula / baba mandir.
At Baba Mandir, there is a branded restaurant, completely economical and good.(Tea Rs.5, Soup + Noodles :Rs.15/-_etc. Tourism have also provided clean washing/toilet facilites.
First you will be taken to Nathula, later on way fund you will get an halt at Tshongu sea. where you can soak up tea snacks, yak safari (bargaining around Rs.20-30/- per head for a small trip)
You will again win an halt at One of the eye catching water falls. pious place.
finally you will reach put a bet on to Gangtok by 5 pm.
TRAVEL :
if you are planning to visit Darjeeling, i would resembling to advice you to hire a taxi(Van) which costs around 1500/- for drop.
but here you can barter and ask the driver to show you also RUMTEK Monestary (which otherwise separately costs you, Rs.500/- for full van).
Hence you can go to Darjeeling via Rumtek.
It is a vastly worth seeing place.
RESTAURANTS / FOODING:
Though you will be provided fooding in your hotel also. But the best veg. restaurants are
1. Parivar
2. Rasoi
For Snacks / Breakfast :
1. Quick Bites (it is expected to take close after June,July'07)
2. Metro.
These restaurants provide quality fooding which is exceedingly very luscious and at reasonable rates.
AS Advised by Mahua,
distinctly, North Sikkim is very moral and if you have sufficient time, should not miss it. but you can call round such places only on box tours.
DARJEELING :
Best Hotel, where we stayed be Darjeeling Lodge (Govt hotel). Very good location nearby to Mall, good fooding. trim and clean.
TOY TRAIN :
First Option :
I would advocate you to book yr toy train tickets of Second class in mortgage which costs Rs.20/-
Second Option :
else you can obtain merriment ride tickets which costs Rs.240/- per head for to and fro from Darjeeling to Ghoom. which if calculated for 4 pax is intensely costly.(around Rs.1000/-)
Third Option :
you can book second class tickets and hire a taxi to pick you up from Ghoom (Rs.150-200/-), so for 4 pax it is going to cost Rs.280/- only)

First Day :
Visit Tiger hill surrounded by the morning, have breakfast at hotel
(4 am till 6.30 am.)
After breakfast, at around 9.30 am. proceed to local s/seeing tour (7 mixed points). it take 4 - 5 hrs around 2 pm.
have lunch.
next again the driver will take you to Darjeeling Station.
relish toy train (already booked) journey upto Ghoom (half hour). Journey starts at 4.25 pm. manage Ghoom at 5 pm.
yr own taxi will pick you up. and bring you to the hotel.
But dont go to Hotel step to Mall. where you can enjoy tea snacks at some of the good restaurants close to Fiesta. Enjoy the couples, ppl roaming and playing and enjoying.
Day 2 :
Option 1 :
Go to Mirik, Nepal and come vertebrae (will cost you Rs.1200/-). On way they also pinch you to one other spectacular palce.
enjoy boating, horse riding at Mirik.
For veg. right restaurant : Sukh Sagar, owned by Sardarji.
Very good fooding and economical.
On channel back, you will be taken to Pashupati Market of Nepal.
near again either you can pace to market which is 1.5 kms. or hire another black cab which will cost you Rs.150 and waiti for you 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs. You can shop in the open market and the same hackney carriage will bring back to border.
Third Day,
You can jump to Mahakal Mandir in the morning (dont miss it)
nearest to Mall Road, above Darjeeling lodge.
very behind the times and famous mandir of Darjeeling.
own breakfast,
and hire a taxi for drop to NJP/Baghdogra.
TIP:
The Darjeeling minicab charge for drop is Rs.1200/- upto NJP/BGHD
but you can also get siliguri taxi who come to drop passengers at Darjeeling and they will charge you Rs.800/- - 850.

if you wrangle and book in finance it will cost you very smaller number.
Option :2
You can also visit mirik / Nepal / Drop at NJP/Baghdogra.
for this you will own to move very rash at around 6- 630 am.
reach Nepal after 1.20 minutes. around 7.30 am.
if you want you can shop for 1 hr.
at 8.30 you can proceed to mirik, conquer mirik by 9.15 am.
spend 1 hr. have tea snack and proceed to NJP. achieve NJP by 12. ( it will include s/seeing Mirik ( or you can accordingly escape Nepal/1 hr) and achieve NJP which will cover Mirik and Drop and cost you less around Rs.1200/-.
