The Sri Dhanwantari Mandir is situated in the heart of Coimbatore City contained by the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy Campus with the one and only honour of being one of the undercooked temples devoted to Lord Dhanwantari surrounded by the whole world.

Lord Dhanwantari is the Upasanamoorthy (Presiding Deity) of Vaidyas of Ayurveda and this temple give a spiritual background to the Ayurvedic Tradition of Treatment within the Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam located in the campus.

Constructed as per Vaasthu Sasthra the Dhanwantari Temple have Lord Dhanwantari, the God of Life & Medicine as the main supernatural being as well as other sub-deities adorn the power loci of the temple, with a majestic Dhwaja-Stampha or flag-staff. All the deity of this temple have be sanctified therein by famous Tantris and Namboodris from significant temples from the nearby state of Kerala.

The sanctity of the temple is made more powerful by the installation of the sub-deities which surround the glory of the largest deity of Lord Dhanwantari. Even though the temple be started to provide religious solace and a serene atmosphere to those under treatment at the Chikitsalayam surrounded by course of time it has become renowned accepting and blessing pilgrims from adjectives over the world.

Lord Dhanwantari is the Adhishtana Devata of Ayurveda the ancient science of Life and is considered to be an Avatar of Maha Vishnu. He is also a great surgeon who taught Ayurvedic Surgery to Susrutha the Father of Ayurvedic Surgery.

You pray to Him for your perfect Health with:

Achutaananda Govinda Vaishno Narayane Hari/
Rogaan May Nasisaya Aseshaan Aasu Dhanwantari Hare//

Meaning: O Lord Achyutaananda! Govinda! Vishnu! Narayana! Hari!/
Dhanwantari! cure my diseases completely and quickly//

According to legends when the Devas and Asuras be churning the Ocean of Milk with the Mandara Mountain as the churning rod and Vasuki the great serpent, as the rope next to Vishnu taking the Kurma Avatar to support mount Mandara, Lord Dhanwantari rose from the Ocean of Milk with the pot of Amrit within one hand. He be Maha Vishnu incarnate and had the Divine Sri Chakra, Sankh, and Jaluka (blood sucking mosquito which cures one of impure blood).

When the Asuras snatched the pot of Elixir for immature life from the Devas Maha Vishnu took the Mohini Avatar to entice the Demons away from the Ambrosia and ultimately it be consumed by the Devas.

If one has out-and-out belief in Lord Dhanwantari that HE can cure the Illness and Maladies of suffering people then and THEN single would one be cured of it. There are instances of miraculous cures effected by this Benign Physician.

From where on earth ever you are you may place your implicit faith within HIM and pray as follows: 11 times, 51 times or 108 times, both in the morning and evenings at dusk, and you will be benefitted.

OM NAMO BHAGAVATHE VASUDEVAAYA

SARVAMAYA VINAASANAAYA

Om, salutation to you Lord Vasudeva, Dhanwantari,
who has the pot of nectar surrounded by his hand,
who is the destroyer of adjectives illnesses,
who is the Lord of the Three Worlds!
Salutations to Sri Maha Vishnu!

In the Temple he gives darshan to you near the Chakra, Sankh, Jaluka and the Amrita Kalasa in his four hand; He has a crown of gorgeous soft pure white cloth, his eyes are like lotus petals, his brilliant dusky colour resembles the poorly lit clouds, HE is adorned near splendid yellow silk and HE is skilful and cares to verbs all diseases resembling a forest fire.

EPILOGUE:

The traditional lamp (Kuthu Vilakku) is considered to be THE symbol of the Goddess. The base(Padam) of the Vilakku is Brahma, the stalk(Thandu) is Vishnu, and the part of a set where grease is filled(Ilai with the Narayam) is Siva. The 'ridges' for the 'Thiri' (wick) have the divine presence of Ganesha, Muruga, Sree Rama, Sree Krishna and Devi. Thus the Vilakku is all Divinity near the whole spiritual universe contained surrounded by it.

The Dhanwantari Temple is also a Vilakku in that it is divine and auspicious: lending spiritual flimsy to devotees and has adjectives the Divinity in its little universe. Just as the Vilakku emanate light to the entire world, the glory of the Dhanwantari Mandir surrounded by the green and blessed premises of Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam, Coimbatore, is spread to the world telling wonderful tale of Auspiciousness and Divine Happenings and Happiness.

I visited this temple and be captivated by its serene atmosphere and Sannithiyam. VP.
