Pondicherry Trip- where on earth to stay and what to call round near, Road route from bangalore to pondicherry.?

Here are some tips for a perfect stay:
Park Guest House (Run by Arobindo Ashram). Excelent location, have a nice garden, airy rooms, spartan arrangement, no luxury, no alchohol. the location is worth sacrifice the luxury.
The Promenade Pondicherry (a 5 star Luxury hotel run by the HiDesign group).
A standard Luxury hotel with honest location. I didn't find anything special about it.
Le Dupleix, this is the hotel contained by the same building where on earth Robert Dupleix stayed, you can try that out and will get an impression about Colonial Luxury.
Patricia's Guest house. A 100 years dated Frech Villa, own by a lady name Patricia, she has couple of ac rooms for guests, this place is exquisitely ornamented with colonial art. You will find an absolute piece of colonial living of the French. You own to call and book the rooms.
Having dinner at Rendezvous is a must for Classic French, authentic Creole & Coastal Indian cuisine.
If u plan a trip to pondi, I am driving down from Bangalore on the 15th of Oct. and I travel alone, Business trip.
