Are adjectives Hindus lacto-vegetarian? Is the population of India mostly lacto-vegetarian?
I've read somewhere that vegetarians are becoming non-veg due to condition reasons. But isn't a lacto-vegetarian diet a health bonus? I thought so anyway. What are the tangible Hindu beliefs? Thanks
Answers: no not all hindus are lacto-vegetarian. its a very adjectives misconception. a vegetarian diet isnt necessarily a robustness benefit, there are like mad of benefits from meat too. im a hindu i eat everything (though i know im not supposed to lol). though in reality, hindus are not supposed to eat beef, as a cow is a holy animal in our religion. though masses hindus still do. hindus are allowed to eat other meat.
All Hindus are not vegetarian.
In the market research data so far food dependence is never included (astonishingly) (see Census questions here - http://www.censusindia.net/census2001/qp...
I am giving below religion erudite population share and approximate percentage of vegetarian within that religion.
Hindus 82.00% - 25% Vegetarian
Muslims 12.12% - 5% Vegetarian
Christians 2.34% - 5% Vegetarian
Sikhs 1.94% - 5% Vegetarian
Buddhists 0.76% - 50% Vegetarian
Jains 0.40% - 99% Vegetarian
Other Religions & Persuasions 0.44%
Note : percentage of religion is real info but the vegetarian percentage is purely my guess.
Vegetarians food is obedient. However lotaional tradition has more impact on lifestyle than religion. In some states (Behagal, Kerala, Goa) 99% Hindu eat nonvegetarian specially Fish. In some states (Kerala, Tamil Nadu)unfertilised egg is considered as vegetarian food. In some state (Gujrat, Rajasthan) 80% population are lacto-vegetarian.
Hindu belief does not stop any one to eat momvegetarian foods. Although Hindus never suppose to put away Beef, even this is not written or confirmed in any Hindu religion books.
Vegetarian food is sufficient for a man's run of the mill life, however availability of fresh and apposite quality vegetables are getting resticted due to use of excessive chemical manure and hormones. This also leads masses to get converted to nonvegetarian.
individual few hindu are the vegetarian, Hinduism is not bound by some set rules close to many other religion have. Hinduism is a practice of good living that enlightens the mind and soul. This practice have matured over several thousand years. Over the time. Hinduism went through several changes to accommodate the socio-political events.
During Muslim invasion contained by the medieval period, Hindus imposed self restrictions on oodles food items which were considered as Muslim culture. It be not only the beef, but chicken; even the Onions and Garlic be considered as non-Hindu food items even couple of years back. But that be purely the fallout of the imposed Islamic culture by the invaders.
I have see Goddess Kali is being offered Chicken and Eggs surrounded by a Temple in Nepal which is the ONLY HINDU country surrounded by the world. In Nepal, Buffalo meat sold everywhere and considered holy where as selling beef is a crime. In eastern India, animals are sacrifice in the puja of Kali.
