How do I gain a German driver's license?
I am moving to Germany in a month. I own a Mass. DL now. What will I hold to do in Germany to drive? Thanks.
Answers: Each German state have it's own rules for each US state. Check the system web site below to find the rules. If you own to take a written exam, don't worry. It can be done contained by English.
Also, before you confer on the US, I recommend that you go to your local DMV and request a replacement DL. Tell them you lost your license and want a new one. In Germany they'll pilfer your US license and never give it posterior.

You can drive with your US-License for 6 Month. Then you've get to get a german one Some US States own a deal near the German government, where on earth you can get your license transferred. You must do it immediately, though, like in 6 months or so. Otherwise you'll end up close to me and have to shift to a German driving school and nick the tests, which costed me 2000 DM fund then. Highway robbery if you ask me.
Getting driver license contained by Germany is not easy. They are have over 100 questions, you have need of to study for that, than driving is another problem, autobahn, night driving, over home, all that. Take forever and cost so much money. I'm not sure going on for the people from the US if they are coming to Germany and how they capture driver license easier here. I know about military and their supposes, this is confident, they are having another rules for them..
Good luck for you and I hope it will be not so doomed to failure. If you already have a DL later go to the Strassenverkehrsamt. They will explain surrounded by detail.

ably, from what I heard foreigners are allowed to drive near their foreign license, after that they have to carry a German license. Hi from Germany.
I got myself informed, but this is lacking any warranty whatsoever, as I'm not sure about my sources; but they involved the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobilclub, common German autombilists' club), which is the first place you should turn to if youwant to turn over yout U.S. license into an international or a German one, and according to their information, your U.S. drivers license is valid up to three months. If you'll stay longer, they'll turn it over to an international drivers' license for a fee they name "small", and it will be valid for another nine months. After that, it will be obligatory that you acquire a German one. All the time, the car(s) that you use must be registered contained by Germany.
So that's what I understood almost the legal stuff. I may be wrong near. The more important entry to me is: Can you drive a manual five-gear? In Germany, we save being told that Americans solitary drive on automatic, and if you want to actually feel three pedals (a gas, a brake, and a clutch), you'll have to revise how to use the second foot. Well, maybe that's a moment ago kidding...
(Acrtually desperate spelling involved, but me lazybones not going to scroll up.)
The German govt. have an agreement with some US States that if you attain your driver's license from the State (i.e. Illinois) you don't have to steal a written or driving test. This is what happen to me, otherwise I might not drive here:)
The person who answered this is right around them taking the license away-
Also, before you exit the US, I recommend that you go to your local DMV and request a replacement DL. Tell them you lost your license and necessitate a new one. In Germany they'll pinch your US license and never give it hindmost.
When I got my German license, they took my US license, and immediately when I go stern to the States I have to go and get a new one right away.
you'll hold to pass a question paper.. Pass the 100 question multiple choice portion of the trial, then thieve a driving test, It take 40 hours of classroom work, learning everything to pass by. I believe you have to return with at least an 80%.
