You can scour on the internet for rooms for rent, much easier of course if you speak and think through German and use their search engines and classified section. Then you could find a hostel or a room for rent rather than a hotel. They DONT enjoy motels like we do, but plenty of Hotels, Hostels and private rooms to rent.
I own done a private room twice in 18 years and most times stayed next to a friend in their spare room.
As far as quantity two goes your on your own ...travel out and meet some family I find Germans to be very friendly at the clubs so long as YOU TRY to speak German to them no business how bad it may be, your try will be appreciated and yes woman and men do go for others sometimes easier from other countries. I hold had four girlfriends contained by Germany so far and nearly married one, but all concluded on good resume and due to the fact distance is other a problem no matter how virtuous the intentions!!
