Answers: Yes, I had a situation there for 15 months. Go to the "Altstadt" (old town) on a Thursday to Sunday darkness. It is a ton of fun. Drink plenty of Alt Bier, a special kind of beer brewed singular in and around Dusseldorf.
Yes, I'm living here now... What did you want to know going on for it? As someone else mentioned, the Altstadt is a very distinctive place, and it's where the best bar are. Also, right now next to Christmas coming up, they have this superb "Weinachts Markt" (Christmas Market). It's really a sight to be see. If you're going, you have to try the Altbeir, it's their "signature" beer. You won't find it anywhere else contained by Germany (or the world I think). Go see the Rhine, it's beautiful... They hold some amazing museums there too. And if you close to shopping, you have to hit Koenigsalle... it's similar to the Rodeo Drive of Duesseldorf...
